John W. Cummings, Jr. "The Skipper" John passed away Monday, March 12, 2012 in Houston, Texas surrounded by his family. He was born on September 21, 1949 in Houston, Texas and attended Robert E. Lee High School in Houston and Stephen F. Austin University. John is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 44 years, Karen Cummings; his children Jennifer, her husband Walt and their daughter Ava; and Jacee, her husband Kelly and daughters Allison and Keaton; his mother Charlene Cummings and two sisters Joy Tice and Holly Ritter. He was preceded in death by his father John W. Cummings. John was blessed to have many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws and numerous friends. A memorial celebration was held on Saturday March 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 345 Piney Point Rd., Houston, Tx. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any kind donations be made to theAmerican Cancer Society .
