Gaston Robau

There will be a celebration of Gaston’s life at the Continental Club on Sat February 16, 2019 from 1pm to 5pm. This day would have been his 69th birthday. Any of his musician friends are invited to and encouraged to bring your instrument and play in his honor...more details to follow.

"Gaston was born February 17 th, 1950 to Dr Gaston Jose Robau & Maria Rosa Garcia. The family fled Cuba in 1961 to the United States and settled for good in Texas. Gaston had a deep love for Texas and also his mastery of the guitar. He played with a popular garage band called the Surf Knights. After graduating from Lee High School Gaston attended the prestigious Berkeley Music conservatory in Boston. After returning to Houston he was one of only two music cats who could read and arrange music. Among many other greats he played with Sonny and Cher, Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli and Kenny Rogers. His beloved brother Ricky died before him by two years. He is survived by his beautiful sister Macuqui Robau Garcia, his two nephews Roberto Gaston Orci and J.Ricky Orci. Additionally Gaston remained friends with his ex wife Kathy and his loving stepson Andrew and his wife Joady.
Gaston was an incredible Raconteur, a trait he inherited from his mother, and could hold a room enthralled with his bigger than life personality, talent and story telling skills.
It should be mentioned that Gaston’s best friend Dan Harrison assisted Gaston in his last few years more than anyone will ever know.
