Robby Robertson informed me that Vernon passed away on October 17, 2024. I hope to get more information or perhaps an obituary. 

This is the wording for a GoFundMe that was started to raise money so this Vietnam Hero has a proper burial and can be buried at VA National Cemetery Houston. 

He is a hero, with 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. Army Combat Engineer, 4th Infantry Division, Sarge, as he loved to be known, has spent the last 6 years with cancer and eventually dementia. He contracted leukemia because of Agent Orange. He loved playing the guitar, spent most of his life in the car business, and was my right-hand man in my business since day one. His knowledge about antiques was amazing. He was truly an incredible man who will be missed by so many.
